Alex Sabo – President
ALEX J. SABO is a principal with the law firm of Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C., which has offices in New Jersey, New York, Alabama and Florida. He works in the firm’s Miami office and has practiced law in Florida since 1978. His practice focuses on the representation of securities and other financial services firms and their employees in litigation (including class actions), arbitrations and regulatory matters, as well as non-securities matters ranging from employment law claims to bankruptcy adversary proceedings.
Mr. Sabo currently serves the FSDA as president and a member of the Board of Governors. He is the Governor with the longest continuous service. He also is a member of the FSDA’s Executive Committee and Legislative Committee.
Mr. Sabo began his legal career as assistant public defender in central Florida. He tried innumerable jury trials, including capital murder cases in which the State sought the death penalty. He later served as branch chief for investigations and enforcement at the SEC in Miami before becoming the first inside counsel at Raymond James Financial, Inc. He entered private practice in May 1989.
Mr. Sabo co-authored the amicus curiae brief filed by the FSDA in Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. v. Phillips, No. SC11-2513 (Fla. May 16, 2013), in which the Florida Supreme Court held that Florida’s statute of limitations applies to arbitration proceedings in Florida, the position advocated by the FSDA.
