One of the FSDA’s most important activities is to lobby the Florida Legislature and Florida's state's agencies regarding proposed bills and regulations affecting the state's securities industry. The primary legislative focus of the FSDA concerns Florida's securities laws, but the Association also closely monitors state legislation affecting employment, taxation, insurance, telephone marketing, tort reform, database security and privacy, consumer protection, and corporate law.
The Association holds a state-wide Annual Convention of its members. Speakers from the Florida Office of Financial Regulation, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, and NASD Regulation, Inc. all regularly attend, along with national speakers on a wide variety of topics of interest to the industry. The Annual Convention provides great opportunities for members to network with other securities professionals from around the state.
The FSDA distributes its Florida Review, a summary of the current news headlines affecting the Florida securities industry and a source for members of updated information regarding the Association's activities.
